An advanced nurse practitioner currently licensed or licensed in another state may be licensed by confirmation in Arkansas. The nurse will verify the licenses as well as verify the existence of the certification exam. The Board of Directors may accept pharmacology courses that have been admitted up to five years earlier if they have been taken as part of an advanced practical care program. There is a two-year time limit for courses taken outside of an advanced exercise program. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) are registered nurses who have been trained beyond the requirements of a registered nurse in one of the four roles of Advanced Practice Nurses – Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). Why is this important today? This month, several bills were introduced on Capitol Hill to eliminate the mandatory cooperation agreement and address some important NP issues. There are indeed several invoices that will affect PRs, such as full Schedule II prescription, PCP status at Medicaid, and signature, which allow us to sign documents on forms and physical that currently require a doctor`s signature. As a professional group, we need to be united and support our colleagues who have worked so hard to move these bills forward. Arkansas has a great opportunity to join 21 other states in the nation that have removed such barriers to practice in the same way. Let`s move forward together and seize this opportunity! Dental hygienists who work in dental clinics, municipal health centers or state-subsidized dental facilities and who have at least 1 year of full-time service can work under the general supervision of a dentist, which means that the dentist is not required to be in the treatment center during the procedure. Arkansas law also provides for a collaborative care program for dental hygienists, where dental hygienists are able to offer services in certain environments to children, the elderly, and people with developmental disabilities, without attendance or prior examination by a dentist. Ann. §17-82-7 To obtain prescriptive authority, an APRN must have a cooperation agreement with a physician. Examples of these two documents can be found on our website (under the Lawyer`s Practice tab). Feel free to make changes in order to respect the agreement between you and your cooperating doctors. However, there are necessary criteria that must be included in each document. Please read the Guidelines on Collaborative Practice and Quality Assurance for APRNs before completing the documents. A future advanced practice nurse must complete postgraduate training consistent with her practice objective (Nurse Practitioner program in Arkansas). . . .
